The last table on the terrace gets a signal too.
A beach bar has the counter on one side, tables spread across the sand or the promenade and an internet line that doesn't always cooperate. Tenerife TPV, OK Computer's POS brand, sets up the system with that in mind: handhelds on their own Wi-Fi that covers the whole terrace, a card terminal that keeps taking payments over 4G if the venue's network drops and a UPS that rides out power cuts. The software is Glop, with VeriFactu and the Canary IGIC configured.
Software, payments and networks Tenerife TPV installs in beach bars and terraces
What POS does a beach bar or a bar with a big terrace need?
A beach bar needs a hospitality POS with handhelds and, above all, a network that reaches every table outside. Tenerife TPV sets it up with Glop: the waiter takes the order on a handheld next to the sunbed or the table, the ticket prints at the bar and in the kitchen, and the bill is paid right there with a handheld card terminal. For a beach club with several bars or a group with more than one venue, the alternative is BDP.
In these businesses the software is rarely the problem; the environment is. Tables are far from the bar, there are walls, parasols and people in the way, and the telecom operator's router was never meant to cover forty metres of terrace. That's why Tenerife TPV's initial visit is spent measuring coverage and deciding where the access points go, before talking about screens.
The rest is speed: a short, well-organised menu on the handheld, drinks one tap away, payment at the table so nobody leaves without paying and a till close that takes a minute when you finally pack up. Everything is prepared at the Armeñime workshop in Adeje and installed in half a day before the busy season starts.
What does a beach bar's POS include?
The same as a bar's, plus whatever it takes to work far from the counter and with a connection that can fail.
Handhelds for the terrace
The order is taken beside the customer and reaches the bar and kitchen by itself. The waiter doesn't cross the terrace with a notepad.
Dedicated outdoor Wi-Fi
Professional access points placed where they're needed, with one network reserved for the handhelds and another, isolated, for customers.
Handheld card terminal with 4G
The Dojo Go receives the amount from the POS and, if the Wi-Fi fails, switches to 4G by itself. You take payment at the table without going back to the bar.
QR payment on the bill
With Glop Pay the ticket carries a QR code and the customer pays from their phone by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Bizum, without waiting for the waiter.
UPS for power cuts
Tenerife TPV always installs a UPS: the POS and printer stay on for an hour or two if the power goes out.
Cash under control
With seasonal staff, a smart cash drawer counts what goes in and what comes out and the till balances without arguments.
Why do handhelds drop off on a big terrace?
Because they depend on a Wi-Fi that wasn't designed for them. Tenerife TPV splits the venue's network into three: fixed equipment (POS and printers) goes by cable, the handhelds use an exclusive Wi-Fi with antennas covering the whole terrace and customers browse on a guest network that can't see the payment system.
- Coverage is measured table by table on the initial visit
- The handheld switches antenna without losing the order as you cross the terrace
- POS, handhelds and printers talk to each other inside the venue: you can keep taking orders without internet
- The only thing that needs an outside connection is the card terminal, and the Dojo Go has 4G

Common questions about the POS for beach bars and terraces
Can I keep taking payments at the beach bar if the internet goes down?
Yes. The POS, handhelds and printers work inside the venue's network, without going through the internet, so you can keep taking orders and issuing tickets. For cards, the Dojo Go card terminal switches to 4G by itself when the Wi-Fi fails. Pending VeriFactu records are sent when the line comes back.
How many Wi-Fi antennas does a terrace need?
It depends on the area, the walls and the shape of the terrace, which is why Tenerife TPV measures it on the visit. As a guide, a bar with a terrace is usually covered with two access points and a large venue needs three or four.
What happens if the power goes out in the middle of service?
The UPS that Tenerife TPV installs with every system keeps the POS and printer on for between one and two hours, enough time to take payment for the open tables and close the till in an orderly way.
Can I take payment at the table without going back to the bar?
Yes, in two ways. With a handheld card terminal linked to the POS, which receives the amount for the chosen table; or with Glop Pay, which prints a QR code on the bill so the customer pays from their phone. Tenerife TPV sets up whichever suits the way you work.
I only open in season, what maintenance suits me?
Tenerife TPV's plans range from paying only for each call-out to the Gold plan, with weekend cover, unlimited visits and replacement of faulty equipment. For a beach bar that makes most of its money on Saturdays and Sundays, the sensible choice is a plan with weekend cover; the terms are set out in the quote.
Does a beach bar's POS have to meet VeriFactu?
Yes, like any business that issues tickets with invoicing software. Glop and BDP have an adapted version and Tenerife TPV sets it up with IGIC. The dates are 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed.
Does Tenerife TPV install in beach bars all over the island?
Yes. It works daily in Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, close to its Armeñime shop, and travels to anywhere in Tenerife. The visit to prepare the quote is free in the south of the island.
Tell us what you sell and how you take payment: we'll tell you which system you need and what it costs.
No two venues are alike: a bar with a terrace, a greengrocer with scales or a chain of five shops need different things. We come and look, suggest only what you'll use and give it to you in writing with hardware, software, installation hours and IGIC. If it suits you better, visit our shop in Armeñime, Adeje.
Tailored, no-obligation quote. We reply Monday to Friday during shop hours. Tenerife TPV is OK Computer's point-of-sale brand (Dalmon Sistemas S.L.).
