Which POS do we recommend for a restaurant or bar in Tenerife?
For a restaurant or bar in Tenerife, OK Computer recommends a hospitality POS running Glop or BDP, installed and maintained by a technician on the island. Both offer a table plan, Android handhelds for floor and terrace, kitchen and bar printers by section, split bills and till closing, and both comply with VeriFactu with the Canary IGIC configured. Sysme is the third option when the venue also sells counter products by weight or barcode.
What makes the difference isn't the software but who installs it and who answers when it fails. OK Computer is the official Glop and BDP distributor in Tenerife, has a physical shop in Armeñime (Adeje) and has spent 15 years installing tills in bars and restaurants in Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas, Arona and the rest of the island. A complete hospitality POS is made up of the touch screen with receipt printer and drawer, one or more handhelds, the kitchen printer, the venue's wired and Wi-Fi network and, if you want, the smart cash drawer and cameras over the till. A till with a handheld is installed in half a day, with the menu loaded beforehand and the team trained the same day.

The law requires every receipt and invoice to be recorded with a chained code and a QR code the tax office can verify: 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed. Glop, BDP and Sysme already comply; what has to be done right is the configuration with the Canary IGIC, and that's our job.

Questions about POS for restaurants and bars in Tenerife
Which POS is best for a bar or restaurant in Tenerife?
For most bars and restaurants we recommend Glop: table plan, Android handhelds, kitchen printers by section and fast till closing. BDP fits when there's nightlife, ticketing or several venues to manage centrally. Sysme is the option if you also sell counter products by weight or barcode. All three comply with VeriFactu and we install and maintain all three from our shop in Adeje.
How much does a restaurant POS cost?
It depends on what it includes: a touch screen with printer and drawer, one or more handhelds, a kitchen printer, the software licence and, optionally, a smart cash drawer. That's why we don't publish a single price. With two or three photos of the venue on WhatsApp we give you an orientation the same day, and the firm quote with hardware, labour and IGIC after a 20-minute visit, free in the south of Tenerife.
Do you install in Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Arona?
Yes. The shop is in Armeñime (Adeje) and most of our bars and restaurants are between Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Arona, but we install across Tenerife. In the north we do the install and commissioning in one trip. The call-out fee is €10 in Adeje, €20 in Arona, San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide, and €40 in the rest of the island; with the Premium plan and above, included visits carry no fee.
How long does installing a POS with handhelds take?
Half a day if the venue is ready. We load your menu and items beforehand, and the morning goes on setting up the POS, handhelds and printers, testing every kitchen and bar ticket and training the team. We do it outside your busiest hours so service isn't interrupted.
Does the POS comply with VeriFactu and the Canary IGIC?
Yes. Up-to-date Glop, BDP and Sysme issue receipts with a QR code and chained record, and we leave them configured with each item's IGIC rate. VeriFactu is mandatory from 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed under the current calendar. Don't wait for the last quarter.
What if the till fails on a Saturday night?
It depends on your maintenance plan. With Gold there's weekend cover, hardware replacement and unlimited visits; with Silver you get priority and a loan till while we repair yours. In any case we fit a UPS so the till and printer last an hour or two through a power cut.
Can I switch from my current POS without losing my menu and customers?
In most cases yes: we export items, families, prices and customers from your current program and load them into the new one before the install. We confirm it once we see what you use now.
Do the handhelds work on the terrace?
Yes, as long as the Wi-Fi reaches. That's why we check the venue's network on the visit: POS and printers by cable, handhelds over Wi-Fi and customers on a separate guest network that can't see your till.
Do you sell the hardware only if I already have the software?
Yes. We build systems to measure: screen, printer, drawer or handheld separately. If you already have Glop, BDP or Sysme, we install it on the new hardware and migrate your data.
