Hands on the bread, not on the coins.
At seven in the morning a bakery serves half the neighbourhood in half an hour, and the same person who picks up the bread is the one taking payment. Tenerife TPV, OK Computer's point-of-sale service, sets up the counter for that moment: products one tap away, a scale that sends the weight to the till, a smart cash drawer so nobody touches cash and invoices with a tax ID for the bars that buy from you every day. With Sysme or Glop, and with VeriFactu and IGIC set up properly.

What POS suits a bakery or pastry shop?
A bakery or pastry shop is best served by a retail POS with a linked scale and quick selling by buttons, and at Tenerife TPV that recommendation is usually Sysme. Sysme rings up a loaf by the piece and a cake or pastries by weight equally well, deducts stock, prints labels and issues an invoice with a tax ID from the same till. If the bakery also has tables and serves breakfasts, the choice becomes Glop, which handles the café side with a handheld.
What sets a bakery apart from other shops is that almost nothing has a barcode: the day's bread isn't scanned. That's why the screen is organised with buttons by category (bread, pastries, cakes, drinks) and weighed products come off the scale with their amount already calculated. The other distinctive feature is the professional customer: the bar next door that takes thirty loaves every morning and wants one invoice a month, not thirty tickets.
Tenerife TPV loads your products, prices and IGIC rates at the Armeñime (Adeje) workshop before coming, installs the kit in half a day outside bread rush hour and teaches whoever serves to use it. If you have several shops, BDP lets you manage products and prices from one place.
What does the POS sort out in a bakery's day-to-day?
Six things that happen hundreds of times a day at a bread counter and that are best done automatically.
Selling without barcodes
Bread, pastries and cakes on big buttons by category. You take payment by tapping the screen, with no searching for or typing prices.
Scale linked to the till
Cakes, pastries or empanada by weight: the scale weighs, calculates the amount and sends it to the ticket. Nobody types in grams.
Invoices for bars and restaurants
The professional customer has their own record with a tax ID and gets a full invoice from the till, registered with VeriFactu just like a ticket.
Smart cash drawer
The customer pays at the machine and gets their change. Whoever is serving doesn't put the tongs down to count coins.
Price labels
For anything sold packaged: trays of sweets, your own sliced bread or resale products, with their label and an up-to-date price.
Card payments without typing
The amount passes automatically from the POS to the card terminal. On small purchases with a queue, it's what removes the most errors.
Why do so many bakeries put in a smart cash drawer?
Because in a bakery the same person handles food and takes payment, and a good share of small purchases are still paid in cash. With a smart cash drawer the customer puts in the money, the machine gives back the exact change and the employee never touches notes or coins. Tenerife TPV installs Glory, SMARTtill and AT·CASH linked to Sysme, Glop and BDP.
- The change comes out exact and faster than counting it by hand
- The till balances at the end of every shift, with no recount
- Cash is kept in locked cassettes
- The model is chosen according to the cash the shop handles
Common questions about the POS for bakeries and pastry shops
What POS software does Tenerife TPV recommend for a bakery?
Sysme in most cases, because it handles the scale, stock, labels and invoices to customers with a tax ID very well. Glop when the bakery has a café with tables, and BDP when there are several shops sharing products and prices.
Can I invoice once a month a bar that buys bread every day?
The bar is registered as a customer with its tax ID and each delivery is recorded in its name; the full invoice is issued from the same program. Tenerife TPV sets up with you how you want to invoice your professional customers and has it tested on installation day.
Will the scale I already have work with the new POS?
It depends on the model and its connection. Tenerife TPV checks before quoting: if your scale can be connected, it's reused; if not, we suggest one that does talk to the program.
How do I charge for pastries sold by the piece and also by the dozen?
Both ways of selling the same product are created, each with its own price, and the employee picks with a tap. The same goes for half loaves, assorted boxes or offers of the day.
Do I have to close the bakery to install the POS?
No. The installation takes half a day and is done in the afternoon or on your day off. Products are loaded beforehand, so the next day you open with the new system already running.
Will the bakery's POS be ready for VeriFactu?
Yes. Sysme, Glop and BDP have an adapted version, and Tenerife TPV sets up IGIC product by product, which matters in a bakery because not every item carries the same rate. The obligation starts on 1 January 2027 for companies and on 1 July 2027 for the self-employed.
Do you offer technical support if the till fails first thing in the morning?
Tenerife TPV supports by phone and remotely Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00, and most problems are solved remotely. For businesses that open every day there are plans with weekend cover and a replacement unit.
Tell us what you sell and how you take payment: we'll tell you which system you need and what it costs.
No two venues are alike: a bar with a terrace, a greengrocer with scales or a chain of five shops need different things. We come and look, suggest only what you'll use and give it to you in writing with hardware, software, installation hours and IGIC. If it suits you better, visit our shop in Armeñime, Adeje.
Tailored, no-obligation quote. We reply Monday to Friday during shop hours. Tenerife TPV is OK Computer's point-of-sale brand (Dalmon Sistemas S.L.).
