A payment gateway links the card terminal to the POS software: press «pay by card» and the amount appears on the terminal by itself; once the customer pays, the receipt closes and the payment is recorded. What changes when the card terminal is linked to the POS software?
With a stand-alone card machine, the waiter or shop assistant reads the total on the till and types it again on the terminal. An extra zero, a tip keyed in by hand or a payment assumed but never taken turn up days later as a shortfall nobody can explain. With an integrated terminal, the till sends the exact amount, waits for the bank's answer and only then closes the receipt.
At the end of the day the software separates card takings from cash and checks them against the terminal, with no slips to add up. If a payment is declined, the table stays open on screen and can be paid another way. It works the same at a busy bar, on a terrace where you charge standing up or in a shop with several tills.
Tenerife TPV (OK Computer, Armeñime, Adeje) works with Dojo, Paytef and Glop Pay. Not every program talks to every gateway: before suggesting one we check that your Glop, BDP, Sysme or Last.app supports it, and on installation day we run test payments with your own items before we leave.

Dojo is a British payments company that opened in Spain in 2024, with offices in Madrid and Barcelona, aimed mainly at hospitality and retail. Its Dojo Go terminal connects over Wi-Fi and switches to 4G on its own if the venue's network drops, so you can keep charging on the terrace. Card takings reach your account the next day.

Paytef is an independent Spanish payment gateway: not a bank, but the piece that connects your POS software to the bank that takes the payment. It works with Spain's two big payment networks, Redsys and CECA, so you can usually keep the bank you already use. Besides the integrated terminal, it can turn an Android phone into a card reader and take online payments.

Glop Pay is Glop's own card payment service, independent of any bank. It comes in three forms: an included card terminal (contactless, chip or swipe) that works fixed at the bar or as a handheld with GlopDroid; the Smartphone TPV app, which turns an Android phone with NFC into a terminal and charges a table picked on screen; and a QR code on the bill so customers pay from their own phone without waiting. It only works with Glop, and Tenerife TPV is an official Glop distributor in Tenerife.

What is a payment gateway in a POS system?
It is the service that connects the POS software to the card terminal and the bank. Through it the till sends the amount to the terminal, finds out whether the payment was accepted and closes the receipt by itself. Tenerife TPV works with three: Dojo, Paytef and Glop Pay.
Which gateway is best: Dojo, Paytef or Glop Pay?
It depends on how you take payments. Dojo suits you if you charge a lot at tables or on the terrace and want the money the next day. Paytef, if you want to keep your current bank. Glop Pay, if your software is Glop and you want card payments from the same maker, by terminal, phone or QR. We tell you which one, and why, when we visit.
Will it work with my POS software?
Tenerife TPV installs Glop, BDP, Sysme and Last.app. Glop Pay only works with Glop; with Dojo and Paytef we first check which integration your software and version have. If your software does not support the gateway you want, we tell you before you sign anything.
Do I have to change banks?
With Paytef usually not, because it works with Redsys and CECA, the networks most Spanish banks use. With Dojo, Dojo processes the payment and pays it into the account you choose. Glop Pay is Glop's own payment service and does not depend on your bank.
What are the fees?
Each provider sets its rates by type of business and card turnover, and changes them over time. That is why we do not publish a figure: Tenerife TPV's quote shows the current rate of the option we recommend, separate from the installation.
What if the internet goes down while I am charging?
The terminal needs a connection to authorise each payment. The Dojo Go switches to 4G by itself if Wi-Fi fails. Otherwise, what protects your takings is a well-built venue network, with the till on cable and good coverage for the terminal; Tenerife TPV checks it on the visit.
